Event recaps and event coverage

Answered on 5 October 2026. You approved the recommendation: use Event Recap for an edited summary across media, without keeping Event Film as a second type with the same meaning. Existing records still need individual checks. The decision record and Content explanation carry the approved meaning. The original reasoning below remains as the review record; no further answer is needed.

The distinction approved

An Event Recap looks back at an event and brings together selected highlights, experiences or takeaways. It could be a video, a written account or a deliberately assembled photo story. A video recap has video as its medium and Event Recap as its type. A folder containing everything collected at an event is not itself a recap.

For example, an edited summary of a conference can be an Event Recap. A complete keynote, an interview with a participant and a single event photograph keep their own descriptions. Being recorded at the same event does not make them the same kind of piece. A few event shots inside another video do not make that whole video a recap.

My recommendation: use Event Recap for this defined kind, replacing Event Film as the intended name for recaps. Do not keep an additional Event Film type with the same meaning. Check the existing records individually before changing their labels; those that are not recaps must retain an accurate description.

The alternative: keep Event Coverage as a broader whole-piece type, with recap, keynote and other forms distinguished separately. That gives one broad entrance but overlaps more with the event relationship. I favor gathering all related work through the event, while keeping each piece's form clear.

You can accept the meaning and change the name. The browsing heading is a separate, later choice.

What the original examples establish

The earlier review called both summit videos definite recaps. The check on 4 October supports a more careful statement:

  • OpenAI Partner Summit: the publisher's text looks back on the gathering and thanks participants. The video player could not play, so the video itself remains unverified.
  • EMEA Financial Services Summit: the publisher summarizes themes and separately links the full sessions. Selected frames in the 95-second video show attendees and different speakers. That supports considering it an edited summary; it is not a complete audiovisual review.

At the 4 October check, the database labeled both Event Coverage. That query returned 61 undeleted videos with that label. This is a count of stored labels, not 61 verified recaps. The old promise that every piece could simply keep the same place under a new name was too strong.

What stays connected

Event Photo is already approved. A photograph can connect to the event, people, products and creative work it shows. The original animation shown on an installation and a photograph of that installation remain distinct pieces, connected when evidence supports it. This question does not reopen that decision.

The Groupings model already lets an event gather different kinds of work. That relationship should let someone explore its recap, talks, photographs and installed creative together. A campaign connection is separate and needs its own evidence.

At that check, the two summit records had no links in the event and campaign membership tables checked for this review. Renaming their type would not establish those connections. Their collection and relationship paths still need investigation before repair.

Your approval settles the intended meaning and name. It does not relabel the 61 records, merge Event Photo into Recap, or certify existing event navigation. The later audit must account for original wording, related events, versions, captures, moments and saved research before implementation.

The review agenda keeps the other pending choices. The earnings and annual-report decisions are already answered.
